Which Hoover Dam tour fits your schedule?
Hoover Dam asks for the fewest hours of your day. We run two trips focused on the dam, but Hoover Dam is also a scheduled stop on our Grand Canyon West and Valley of Fire trips.
The Walk On Top tour leaves at 8 AM and has you back by 1:30 PM. You cross the top of the dam on foot, and stop at Seven Magic Mountains. Starting from $79, it works when you want a morning tour and a free afternoon.
The interior trip, From Above, On Top and Below, departs at 8 AM or 12 PM. Starting from $109, it includes a Power Plant tour ticket that gets you inside the dam. Because part of the visit goes underground, anyone who finds enclosed spaces difficult should skip this one.
Can you see the Grand Canyon in one day?
You can stand at the edge of the Grand Canyon and still go to sleep in your Las Vegas hotel the same night. Starting from $189, MaxTour’s full-day West Rim trip runs from 7 AM to 8 PM and gets you back the same evening.
The day gives you time at Eagle Point and Guano Point. VIP access is part of the tour, so you skip the park shuttle queues. We include hotel pickup, entrance fees, and unlimited snacks and drinks.
Know what this tour leaves out. It keeps you on the rim, and it visits the West Rim, not the South Rim. If your plan was to hike down into the canyon, or if the South Rim is the one you had in mind, this trip will not match. It is also not the right choice for guests who need full wheelchair accessibility.
When should you choose Valley of Fire?
Valley of Fire is red sandstone and short trails, and it photographs well without a long hike. We combine it with Hoover Dam on a Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam day trip that lasts about 9 to 10 hours. Hotel pickups happen between 7:15 AM and 8 AM, with drop-offs between 5:00 PM and 5:45 PM. Starting from $119, the tour includes lunch and all entrance fees.
This trip does not run between May 15 and September 15. Ground temperatures on the red rock make it unsafe in those months, so we do not recommend Valley of Fire in high summer at all. Outside that window, the ground is still uneven. If uneven ground or heat is a concern, the Hoover Dam Walk On Top tour is the easier day.

What a MaxTour day involves

Who these trips do not suit
The Hoover Dam tours focus on a man-made landmark. The interior trip also goes underground and is more involved than a quick photo stop, so skip it if enclosed spaces bother you or if you want natural scenery. The Walk On Top option stays above ground.
Valley of Fire requires moderate hiking on uneven ground and does not offer Grand Canyon-scale views. Grand Canyon West stays on the rim, does not visit the South Rim, and is not suitable for guests who need full wheelchair accessibility.
