Why Visit Horseshoe Bend?
Horseshoe Bend is quickly becoming one of the most iconic destinations in the American southwest. At 1000 feet tall and, this meandering wander in the Colorado River is always one of the unexpected surprises on our tours. While lacking in name recognition like its famous neighbors Antelope Canyon and the Grand Canyon, the views are on par with both these destinations.
The Colorado River's natural color is a light brownish red from which it gets its name. However, it's is only 5 miles downstream from the huge Glen Canyon Dam, which filters out all of the sand and silt that gives the river it's color. The result? The river takes on a green color that contrasts beautifully with the red sandstone walls and the blue sky above, and comes out fantastic in photos.
